The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), a not-for-profit organization founded in 1953, is the leading patient organization for people with asthma and allergies and the oldest asthma and allergy patient group in the world.
AAFA provides trusted education and support, advocates for fair access to care and treatment, and ensures the patient voice shapes research, policy, and innovation.
Since 1984, AAFA has designated May as National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month. It's a time to educate the public about asthma and allergic diseases, including risk factors, symptoms, and treatment.
The Power of Community to Improve Asthma and Allergy Health
Over 106 million people in the U.S. live with asthma and/or allergies. How well someone manages these conditions depends on more than medication. It depends on the air they breathe, the places they spend time, and the people around them.
That's where you come in. Asthma and allergy allies come from many places. Family, friends, neighbors, care teams, school staff, employers, donors, advocates, and lawmakers. When people come together as a community, the difference is real - healthier spaces, better treatment options, and improved quality of life.
This May, we are highlighting the collective power we have when we come together to improve the lives of people living with asthma and allergies.
